Earthing Equivalence Index
The Equivalence Index scores each product on how closely it replicates barefoot contact on wet beach sand — the gold standard of earthing. A score of 100 = identical to standing barefoot on the ocean shoreline. Every product is scored on the same scale using conductivity resistance, contact surface area, and use-case grounding efficiency.
This is a GroundingMatrix proprietary index. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any brand. Clearly labelled as editorial analysis, not scientific measurement.

Index Methodology
The Equivalence Index uses three inputs: (1) conductivity resistance in ohms — lower resistance scores higher; (2) effective contact surface area — larger surfaces that make skin contact score higher; (3) use-case grounding efficiency — products used during sleep or extended desk use score higher than short-duration or travel products. The three inputs are weighted 60/25/15 and normalised to a 0–100 scale where 100 represents wet ocean sand barefoot contact (~10–50 Ω for salt water, full-foot contact).
This index is GroundingMatrix editorial analysis. It is clearly labelled as such and is not a scientific measurement or third-party certification. Brands cannot pay to improve their score. The index updates when new conductivity data is verified.
