Oxidative Stress

A state of biological imbalance in which free radical production exceeds the body's antioxidant capacity — causing cumulative cellular damage that drives ageing, chronic inflammation, and a wide range of degenerative health conditions.

Oxidative stress is what happens when free radical activity in the body gets ahead of the systems designed to manage it. Your body produces antioxidants — both internally synthesised and obtained through diet — that neutralise free radicals by donating electrons to them, stabilising them before they cause damage. When the free radical load becomes too high, or antioxidant reserves become too depleted, the balance tips.
