Earthing Sheet

A conductive bedsheet that connects to a grounded wall outlet and grounds your body passively through the night — designed to sit under your regular fitted sheet or directly on the mattress surface.

An earthing sheet does the same thing as an earthing mat — creates a conductive path between the Earth's charge and your body — but it does it during sleep rather than during waking hours. That distinction matters enormously for the total grounded hours a product delivers. An earthing mat used conscientiously for two hours a day at a desk produces around 730 grounded hours per year. An earthing sheet used every night for seven hours produces over 2,500. For buyers serious about grounding as a long-term daily practice, the sheet is where the arithmetic of consistency lives. The setup is intentionally invisible. The sheet lays flat on your mattress, your regular fitted sheet goes on top, the grounding cord connects to the sheet's metal snap connector and plugs into the grounding port of your wall outlet, and from that point forward getting into bed is the entire grounding routine. No daily decisions. No repositioning. No remembering. Just sleep, on a bed that's now grounded. Earthing sheets come in two main formats. A flat sheet format — like the Premium Grounding Queen Sheet — lays across the full mattress beneath your fitted sheet and covers the entire sleep surface. A mattress cover format — like the Earthing.com Mattress Cover — goes directly on the mattress underneath all bedding and provides full surface coverage regardless of how you position or move during the night. Both deliver the same grounding mechanism. The differences are in construction material, care requirements, and how comprehensively they cover the mattress surface. The most important material consideration when buying an earthing sheet is conductivity longevity. Silver-threaded sheets oxidise over time — the oxidation builds on the thread surface and progressively reduces conductivity, typically within 12 to 18 months of regular use. Stainless steel fibre sheets don't oxidise and maintain their conductivity through years of machine washing and daily contact. Carbon-based mattress covers are stable under normal conditions but require wipe-down care rather than machine washing. GroundingMatrix covers this material comparison in detail in the buying guide on the blog. Before setting up an earthing sheet, test the bedroom outlet with an outlet tester. The sheet only performs if the outlet it's connected to has a functioning earth ground connection — and a meaningful number of homes, particularly older construction, have outlets that look standard but aren't properly grounded.
